In excercise of the
powers conferred by clause (h) of section
36 of the Indian Medicine Central Council
Act, 1970 (48 of 1970), the Central Council
of Indian Medicine, with the previous
sanction of the Central Government, hereby
makes the following regulations, namely
:-
1. Short title
These regulations may be called the Central Council of Indian Medicine (Inspectors and Visitors) Regulations, 1977.
2. Definitions
In these regulations, unless the context otherwise
requires;
(a) "Act" means the Indian Medicine Central Council Act,
1970 (48 of 1970).
(b) "Board" means a Board, Council, Examining Body or
Faculty of Indian Medicine (by whatever
name called) constituted by the State
Government under any law for the time
being in force regulating the award of
medical qualifications in and registration
of practitioners of Indian Medicine;
(c) "Central Council" means the Central Council of Indian
Medicine constituted under section 3 of
the Act;
(d) "Executive Committee" means a Committee constituted
by the Central Council under section 10
of the Act;
(e) "Indian Medicine" means the system of Indian Medicine
commonly known as Ashtang Ayurveda, Siddha,
or Unani Tibb whether supplemented or
not by such modern advances as the Central
Council may declare 'by notification from
time to time;
(f) "Inspector" means the inspectors appointed under
clause (I) of section 19 of the Act;
(g) "President" means the President of the. Central
Council, elected under subsection (2)
of section 3 of the Act;
(h) "Registrar" means the Registrar
of the Central Council appointed under
clause (a) of the section 12 of the Act,
who shall also act as the Secretary of
the Central Council;
(i) "University"
means any
University in India established
by law and having a Faculty of Indian
Medicine and include an University in
India established by law in which instruction,
teaching, training or research in Indian
Medicine is provided.
3. Inspection of examination
(a) The inspection of examination, courses of study and institutions
for medical education, under section
19 of the Act, shall be carried out in
accordance with the provisions of these
regulations.
(b) It shall be the duty of the Registrar to ascertain periodically
from the examining bodies and institutions
the date and place of every such examination
which may be inspected by the Central
Council.
(c) The Executive Committee of the Central Council shall appoint
not less than three inspectors for Ayurveda
and one each for Unani and Siddha to inspect
colleges, hospitals and other institutions
of Indian Medicine.
